Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a cooperative volunteer program to provide mutual support to all Woodgate residents in need of temporary personal and household services.
Neighborhood volunteer telephone coordinators maintain a non-emergency telephone helpline (850-339-8282) to accept and implement requests for services from Woodgate residents of all ages. The phone requests are answered within 24 hours everyday from 9 am to 9 pm.
Volunteers have indicated by survey their interest and willingness to serve which is recorded and accessed in a database. Temporary volunteer services include but are not limited to transportation; yard, pool, and home maintenance; technical assistance; pet care; mail pick-up; trash assistance; grocery shopping; meal assistance and social support.
Neighbors are invited to complete a survey and indicate their interest in becoming part of this vibrant team. There are over 100 residents who are active volunteers. Recipient of this service is required to sign the waiver form before requesting for the service.
Volunteers are also needed to answer the helpline. Volunteers accept responsibility for checking the phone twice a day during 2 week intervals, twice a year. They respond to callers and coordinate services using the volunteer survey database. Neighbors who receive services are asked to sign a voluntary waiver of liability and release form.
If you received the help or volunteered, please submit the Service Report to improve the process.
