Woodgate Day features free hamburgers and hot dogs, soft drinks and snow cones! The activities include games for the kids; model trains; exhibits by businesses who support the neighborhood; and visits by our local police and sheriff’s departments and city and county dignitaries.

2025 Annual Meeting - Rescheduled

We are postponing the Thursday night annual meeting because of the extreme cold weather. The new date is Wednesday January 29, 6:45 pm.

The 2025 Annual Meeting is scheduled Thursday, January 23, 2025, 6:45 to 9 p.m., in the Camellia Room at Dorothy Oven Park. This is an informal, but still important session including election of the Executive Board for 2025.  Leon County Commissioner Rick Minor, who regularly attends Woodgate activities, will be making remarks.

$10 WNA Dues Increases Effective January 1, 2026

From WNA President Matt Schreck:

A proposal that will be discussed and voted on at the Annual Meeting increases  annual Woodgate Neighborhood Association dues from $25 to $35, effective in 2026. The WNA relies on a few yearly newsletter advertisements and annual dues to (1) fund events throughout the year; (2) maintain our front island; (3) pay for our neighborhood website; (4) Print and distribute a quarterly newsletter and (5) Provide for committee specific expenses that are incurred through service such as our Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program and Community Outreach.

It has been over 20 years since the dues were last raised and, in that time, I think we can all agree that expenses have drastically increased. The increased revenue from raised dues will help us to be able to put more into our events and programs that serve and provide entertainment for the neighborhood.

If you would like your voice and opinion heard on the matter, we look forward to hearing it! Please attend our Annual Meeting which will be held on January 23rd (6:45 pm) at Dorothy B. Oven Park.

Woodgate’s Christmas Holiday Lighting Contest

Woodgate’s Christmas Holiday Lighting Contest

Christmas Holiday Lighting Contest - Woodgate’s Christmas Holiday Lighting Contest is Thursday, December 19, with judging by a special local dignitary (to be announced soon). Begin your decorating now and you are automatically entered.

Christmas lighting on the Woodgate Island at Thomasville Road – by a group headed by Matt Schreck and Diana Bixler – is terrific again, but not part of the competition. The lights have been sponsored this year and last year by a donation from a wonderful, long-time Woodgate resident, who wants to be anonymous.

Holiday decorations seem to be more and better in our neighborhood each year. Households or residents in good standing are eligible for consideration of winning the Christmas Holiday Lighting award. Look for a “Yard of the Season” sign in the winner’s yard the next morning.
